I've been thinking about
multi-agent intelligence
since Minsky.

Now I'm building it.

Carcinize Corp builds AI infrastructure for the live session layer. Our flagship product is Modyl.

BASIT MUSTAFA — FOUNDER

Age 4Started coding.
Minsky eraNeural nets + Society of Mind — intelligence from interacting agents. Still the thesis.
IBMEnterprise infrastructure at scale.
2014Voltaire — AI for jury selection. Regulated decisions, human-in-the-loop, before enterprise AI had a product category.
2019Co-founded Agile ATS as CTO. Every hire decision happened in a live conversation. The ATS only captured the echo.
2023Procurement Sciences AI — CTO, then Chief Innovation Officer
  • Led product R&D, compliance, security, and DevOps at the frontier of GovCon AI.
  • Attained FedRAMP ATO, CMMC 2, SOC 2 Type I+II — no findings, each in record time.
  • Seed → $10M Series A (Battery Ventures) → $30M Series B (Catalyst).
  • Handful of users → 75%+ of the largest government contractors.
  • Saw the same gap across every workflow even at the frontier.
  • Left to build the missing session layer.
NowBuilding Modyl full-time.
“I ran product and compliance for AI in regulated government procurement. The highest-stakes decisions were made in live sessions: proposals shaped, bids won or lost, RFPs drafted. The document layer captured the aftermath. It missed the decision itself. I left to build the session layer.”

WHAT WE BUILD

Modyl

The session participation layer. AI agents that join your live work sessions as first-class participants — with their own voice, canvas, and desktop. Conversation in. Deliverables out.

ModylBench

An open benchmark for meeting-native agent behavior. Six professional verticals, ~300 scripted turns, 29 adversarial edge cases. Journey (0.4) × destination (0.6) scoring. Apache 2.0. Engages Berkeley MAST, DeliberationBench, and AgentRewardBench head-on. v1 baselines pending April 2026.

FAQ

What is Carcinize Corp?Carcinize Corp is the parent entity for Modyl and future products built on the session layer — the live moment where humans and agents work together.
What does "carcinize" mean?Carcinization is convergent evolution — nature's tendency to independently produce crab-like forms across unrelated lineages. It's the idea that certain shapes are so optimal, evolution finds them again and again. We think session-layer AI is like that: the missing piece that every knowledge workflow converges toward, regardless of vertical.
What is Modyl?Modyl is the first product. It gives AI agents a seat in live review meetings — voice, shared canvas, spreadsheet access. The agent joins your Zoom, Meet, or Teams call, presents work, answers questions, edits the model while you're still talking, and delivers a structured artifact before anyone leaves the call.
What stage are you at?Early. We're onboarding design partners now — 25 finance and consulting teams in Q2 2026. No deck. No sales motion. Direct conversations with the people who run these meetings.
Why single-founder?I've co-founded twice. The best decisions came from having a clear point of view, not from consensus. At this stage, speed and conviction matter more than coverage. I've scaled a seed-to-Series-B AI company. I know what needs a team and what doesn't yet — and when I find the right people, I'll build with them. I'm not in a rush, and I'm not settling.
Are you raising?Selectively. If you're a fund that invests in infrastructure for the way knowledge work actually happens — not the deck, but the meeting — reach out.
How do I reach you?basit@carcinize.net. Direct is fine.
